Yes, not everyone would tell you this. Rather they would make excuses for you why you should binge that entire series in one night. Now, that notion has gotten so common that we fail to understand how dangerous it is.
Here are some of the reasons binging has the worst effects on your mental health.
1. Your Schedule Is A Total Topsy Turvy
There was a time when we used to buy DVDs and plan to watch the movie on the weekend. Or, we had to actually wait for a week for the next episode and the lively discussions about what could happen.
Yes, it is not possible to get back to those simpler days. Neither can we deny the advancement of internet technology. However, there is no harm in scheduling our screen timing; going on internet detoxes once in a while.
Although with binging habits, these things are almost impossible. Your schedule just goes down the gutter, and so does your productivity. It increases procrastination, and you cannot concentrate on your work.
2. Your Circadian Is A Mess
If you are someone who is binging without a sense of time, you are probably watching seasons after seasons staying up all night.
Right?
Your circadian is probably down the gutter by now. Your sleep is that recharge without which you wouldn’t be able to work the next day efficiently. Is binging that series in a day really more important than giving your 100% to your work? A work that is most likely your only source of sustenance.
No one is asking you to skip the entertainment from your life. However, schedule it and do not compromise your sleep. How about you download one or two episodes beforehand and then switch off your wifi? Download these episodes from your favorite series RARBG mirror.
Sit comfortably on your bed and watch the downloaded episodes before switching it off and falling into your night’s slumber. You will be so tired that you wouldn’t want to get up and switch on the wifi for another episode. Give yourself a target of only two episodes per day.
3. You Do Not Consume Mindfully
With all the consumption you have had daily, jumping from one series to another, it is almost impossible to consume anything mindfully. Do you even remember the first episode you watched, and what was the underlying story there?

There is something beautiful about watching things mindfully. Letting an episode sink in and then getting excited to watch another the next day. This is how shows become your comfort shows.
This experience is totally gone with all the OTT platforms as we do not watch but literally speed through.
4. You Are Catching FOMO
The fear of missing out is good when execution is limited. However, when you’re binge-watching and then again searching about them on social media, fearing all the spoilers! It is like you are letting that piece of entertainment consume everything in your lifestyle.
The bad kind of FOMO where you would rather procrastinate from your work and watch the remaining episode to avoid any spoiler.
Stop running in such a rat race that has no ultimate gain rather than a mere minute of pleasure. Stop running after FOMO!
Be Mindful With What You Watch!
Be mindful when you watch something. Properly consume the artwork and the storyline, the cinematography. The series isn’t going anywhere!
Stop giving into toxic traits of FOMO in social media, and make room for making your own decision about what piece of information you will consume.
